In 2021, I visited “The Leu Art Family” at the Museum Tinguely an exhibition that left a lasting impression on me. The depth and creative energy of this family’s story immediately drew me in, and I knew I wanted to meet them one day. In 2025, that moment came. My friend Peter and I visited Filip Leu and his family in their home and studio in Bullet. What began as an artistic interest quickly became something more personal. A portrait of a life rooted in Swiss art history and deeply connected to the global tattoo scene. As the grandson of Eva Aeppli and linked to Jean Tinguely, Filip stands at the intersection of tradition and rebellion, fine art and radical self-expression a balance I sought to capture through my lens. One of his thoughts has stayed with me:
“In life, you have to lose the fear of making mistakes. A tattoo is what it is simply a tattoo.”
This series is my personal portrait of a family that lives creativity, courage, and independence across generations. My sincere thanks to Loretta, Titine, and Filip for their warmth and generosity.
